HOUSE CONCERTS

Celia Craig Oboe

You can have a concert in your own home, given by world class musicians in an intimate, up-close setting.

You see and hear every nuance, every breath, every glance as the players communicate with each other and with you. The feeling is that these exceptional musicians are playing just for you, because that’s exactly what they’re doing!

Artaria offers a range of themed concerts with various combinations of players to suit your taste and the space available. The musicians introduce the pieces with interesting and amusing anecdotes about the composers and the performers that they wrote for, speaking directly to you as they would to their friends. You will have the opportunity to have conversations with the musicians before and after the concert.

Most people appreciate a glass of wine and some food as part of the event. You are free to provide your own catering, or leave it to Artaria, working with catering partners to provide a selection of premium wines and locally sourced food to suit your requirements.

You do not need a piano. Any large room can host a concert. As a guide, an audience of 20 is ideal, but this can vary according to the space available and your own requirements.

Currently available concerts include:

Mozart and Friends

A quartet of strings and oboe highlights the genius of Mozart in context with music of his contemporaries.

Mozart loved to play chamber music with his good friends in small groups.

This curated concert of music written for these occasions continues the tradition of ‘chamber music’ – up close and personal in a domestic setting.

Original Baby Grand

This program was initially created for the historic piano at South Australia’s founding Collingrove Homestead, specially commissioned in 1912 from the most expensive piano manufacturers in New York, originator of the term Baby Grand.

Celia Craig, Thomas Marlin and Michael Ierace present poignant Edwardian salon pieces alongside energised 1920’s Great Gatsby post-war repertoire.
